We're Here was christened on June 6th, 1988 in Beebe Cove in Noank, CT. The schooner was designed and built by John Elisha Wilbur (more widely known as "Jack Wilbur") for his son John.
The new schooner was quoted by Adrian Lane as being "Jack's finest work". The picture to the right is of Jack and John sailing together.
After a decade of sailing, the boat was laid up in the late 1990's. John Wilbur had hopes of getting her back in the water, but his work and personal life left little time for her.
Bill Sauerbrey had always been an admirerer of the boat. He had sailed on We're Here with John and also alongside her in his Friendship Sloop. John agreed to have the boat brought to the Beetle shop for restoration and to find her a new Owner. Here Brownell arrives with the boat in early November 2009.
