The 32' Noank Schooner "We're Here" was originally built in 1988 by Jack Wilbur in Noank CT for his son John. The boat came to the shop in the winter of 2009 for restoration. The decking was removed and the backbone, frames, and planking were all carefully inspected and some minor repairs made. Most of the deck beams were replaced, and a complete new fir deck, cabin top, cockpit, hatches, toe rail, cap rail, and coamings were constructed. A new Westerbeke 44 engine and systems were installed. The restored Schooner "William Bassett" was launched on June 3rd. New rigging and sails were put on, and the boat was then sailed to Mystic Seaport for the Woodenboat Show where it won 1st prize for the Best Professionally Restored Sailboat. John Wilbur and family were able to once again sail her in Noank's waters before the boat returned to its homeport of Onset, MA.
WoodenBoat magazine Issue#69 March/April 1986 has an article titled "Jack Wilbur and the Return of the Noank Boats".
